The “MW Special” , Top Fuel Drag Bike.

Mark got his inspiration to carve his engine from solid blocks of metal from Bugatti’s mechanical sculptures, the hand-scraped masterpieces of the 1920’s and 30’s.

  • Carburetion: Two 50.8 mm  Injectors per Cylinder machined from 5083 solid billet
  • the Bellmouth are spun from aluminium sheet
  • Exhaust: 1 pipe 2 ½ inch per head
  • Ignition: 1 x spark plug per cylinder
  • 1 x Mallory magnetos – rotating magnets
  • Slipper Pistons: Machines 5083 billet aluminum
  • Connecting Rods: 7000 series Aluminum Plate
  • Big End:  Slippers
  • Fuel:  90 % Nitro delivered by a mechanical fuel injection system
  • Flywheels: machined from steel billet
  • Crankcase and Cylinder Heads are machined: Two  9 x 9  5083 billet plate
  • Cylinder Heads – 4 valve twin cam. The inlet valves are 44 mm and the exhaust are 40 mm; the valve guides and valve seats are machined from aluminium bronze bar
  • Camshafts: 4 camshafts machined from solid 2 inch round bar and nitrided
  • 2 years to build.  Build completed in 1977
  • Altered many times over the 30 years of racing to comply with ANDRA drag race ruling
